An exciting new event is coming to Bello Shire, born out of UMBL Music’s passion for celebrating local creativity and the community getting together.
Urunga Spring Fiesta featured two stages of great music and dance, with markets and food trucks, interactive art and family fun activities highlighting local businesses. The event and live music kicked off at 2pm and builds momentum through to 9pm. There was a sunset street parade for the whole community to join in on. We had free jumping castles, dance workshops, displays from local community groups, fire twirlers, live art and roving performers and two dining and picnic areas for everyone to sit back and relax in and soak up the Urunga Spring Fiesta atmosphere.
So many great applications for entertainers and market stalls have came in and we’ve done our best to have a broad spectrum of interests and genres represented. The performers included: Apocalypse Joe & The Coyote, Bellingen Big Band, Los Vecinos, Greenstone, Juicebox, Pam Hata, Girrwaa Duguula Choir, Jumbaal Dreamin’, Kookyburras and Samba Soul and the Horns of Boom!
Held in the centre of Urunga in Bowra Street near the caravan park and also including the Morgo Steet Reserve and the Riverstage. Festival Coordinator Lauren Mills shared with us, “UMBL Music was excited to present Urunga Spring Fiesta, a free street festival celebrating our community’s diverse tapestry of talent and social interests on the 21st September. The Open Streets Program brought our streets to life and there was be live music, dance performances and fun activities for all ages and tastes showcasing our special coastal town to the region. We shone a spotlight on local businesses and community groups, and celebrated together.”
UMBL Music hosted Urunga Originals over the last two summers supporting live and original music on the Riverstage and there’ll be plenty of that again in the future!
